Clever is a  yawl, she was built in La Rochelle in the shipyard Caissaine in 1927.
The yard does not exist anymore. The designer was Jean Severy.

The yacht is easy to handle by two persons; in  regattas however, six people are required.
Measure:  Length : 14,90 m, + bowsprit, beam : 3,81m, draught 2,03 m, displacement 27,3 tons
The yacht is registered in Germany (D) and she is member at the AIVE and the C.I.M.

Construction: the hull (40mm) is of teak and oak on teak frames. The deck is teak layed, the keel is iron.
She is  a flush deck with one companionway. Therefore she offers ample space above and under deck.
two traditional skylights, a hatch and six portholes guarantee sufficient ventilation.

Accommodation: under deck the interior is almost original mahogany paneling and facet doors original from 1927.
Left and right off the companionway there are 2 doors and 2 sliding doors leading to two single cabins, enabling a comfortable double opening. Each cabin is equipped with a wardrobe plus a chest of three draws. There are also draws under the bunks. The mirror above the chest is foldable, so the chest can be turned into a navigation table.
In the saloon there are 4 cupboards, one in each corner, the door left of the mast leads to the galley and to the V-shaped bunks in the forecastle. The one at the right is the bathroom door /cold and hot running water)

Restoration: 1994
Renewal of the entire teak deck as well as replacement of approximately 140 meters of the planking. (1997 in the yard ( Francesco del Carlo in Viareggio)
Engine was thoroughly overhauled in 1998 by Armapesco in Viareggio.
New sails in 2001 by Zaoli in San Remo.
Completely new rigged in 2002 in San Remo.
Installation of a new loading station as well as laying new cables in the mast in 2002 in San Remo.
New varnishing of masts and  booms.
In 2008 the hull was newly painted (white)
When we first saw the Clever, we were immediately struck by the aesthetic qualities of the yacht, with her particularly clean bridge and the harmonious design.
Because of age reasons the owner now has decided - with a heavy heart - to sell her. He is now looking for a successor who will love this extraordinary yacht as much as he did and who will keep the Clever in mint condition as he did.

P.S. In 1974 Gianni Loffredo acquired Clever in Monaco and on board of this boat, the idea was born, to create the Italian Association of classic yachts, the AIVE.
