This yacht was designed by Artur Tiller,
who was, along with Fife and Mylne, one of the well-known
naval architects in the thirties, as an ocean going schooner
for an important German Industrial. She was built on the very
famous yard of Abeking & Rasmussen in Lengwerder ( Bremen),
in northern Germany, to the highest standards: (100 A1
Germanischer Lloyd)
She was however confiscated by the Nazi’s , as the war
started the yacht was making a trip on the North Sea and was
stopped and brought to England by the British Navy. She was
dismasted and brought to the Thames with balloons hanging on
her to help to defend England a little bit more. After the
war she was bought by an English Commander, who had her
rerigged, with the original masts, as a ketch, by the naval
architect Illingworth. He took her to the Mediterranean and
cruised extensively. After a few years she was sold to an
Italian gentleman, who had an important refit made by the
well-known yard of Becconcini in Genoa.
She was sold to a Belgian gentleman and was renamed "Briantais",
but the yacht remained in the Mediterranean. He sold the
yacht to a Frenchman , who renamed her Adria II, because the
name was taken after the Belgian sale. For 15 years the
yacht was in St.Raphael, French Riviera, She was sold again
to a French company and she had a paid captain aboard for
more than 5 years, she participated in all the classic
regatta’s at the Cote d’Azur, with very honorable places.
The company stopped their sailing adventures and the Adria
was on the market again.
A very important refit started and she is now reborn, but by
keeping everything that is original.
She is a magnificient sailingyacht very seaworthy and fast
and now available for purchase. Naval
