2004 Sails: Barbados Traditional by Doyle Sailmakers:
Marconi main, gaff fore, forestaysail, large jib.
Also, large fisherman by UK Sails; small fisherman, small
jib, gollywobbler.
In 1975 Ret. Cmdr. Charles Pitts, Sr. and his son Fletcher
Pitts found Liberty neglected in Hampton Roads,Virginia.
Charles, and Fletcher with his brothers Mitch and Chip,
restored Liberty in wood, mahogany planking monel fastened.
She sailed as a family yacht on the Chesapeake Bay.
In 1985 Pitts and Sons, Inc. boatyard employed the Vaitses
method to lay eleven layers of fabmat under the keel and
continuous fiberglass over the topside and cabin tops,
mechanically fastened to the wood hull with 1 1/2" stainless
steel screws every 4" to preserve Liberty.
