Chantal is an auxiliary sailing vessel designed for extended cruising and as a comfortable live-aboard. The heavy displacement mono-hull is modeled after a traditional trading schooner. The bow is curved and raked with the beak of a "fiddle-head". The stern has a raked oval counter. The deck shows moderate sheer with a raised quarterback aft. The "soft" round bilge and steep rise of floors. Topsides have considerable flair and the freeboard is moderate to high. The fore deck is clear except for a raised scuttle providing access below. The pilothouse has windows across the helm, side and aft. Weather doors on the port and starboard sides provide access to the pilothouse. The vessel has wheel steerage from two positions: the pilothouse and on the quarterdeck aft steering station. A 12" high solid wood bulwark runs full length and a 37" high taffrail with stain steel stanchions encloses the quarter deck. A double lifeline is mounted on stainless steel stanchions. Davits are fitted at the stern.

Accommodations are spacious. The large stateroom forward and master stateroom aft each feature both double and single bunks. The large main salon has a settee with seating to starboard and the galley to port. The galley includes a refrigerator, propane stove/oven, a double sink and lots of storage space. An enclosed head with a shower, vanity and electric head is aft of the galley on the port side. The raised pilothouse provides a protected steering position with good forward visibility. The large forepeak accommodates a small workshop area and additional storage space.

After extensive cruising in the Caribbean, the vessel was hauled
and inspected in San Francisco. Seams were reefed and re-caulked.
Worm shoe was inspected and repaired.
Ten gallons of bottom paint was applied and topsides painted.
Ship is hauled and inspected yearly.

The charming galley has lots of counter space and storage space including ample drawers for silverware, serving utensils and cooking equipment.


DINING SETTEE:

Hand made from South American hardwood, the stunning varnished dining table is the centerpiece of the main salon. The settee has space for 6-8 people to dine comfortably.

STATEROOMS:

The Foreward Stateroom features a full-sized bunk and a single bunk and plenty of storage.

The Aft Stateroom is the Master Suite with a full- sized bunk as well as a single bunk, closets and a writing/work area.

HEAD:
The head is located off the main salon and features a large shower stall, vanity, sink and a Raritan electric head.

PILOTHOUSE:
The raised pilothouse provides a protected steering & navigation position and houses all navigation equipment, electronics and navigation station. The main instrument panels are housed in the pilothouse as well as access to the engine room, master suite and main salon.


WORKSHOP:
Forward of the main salon and a stateroom, the large forepeak gives ample room for storage as well as accomodating a small workshop area for tools and indoor projects.
